What can I do on WildlifeNearYou?

You can search for places to see wildlife all around the world - try entering an animal you want to see (like a red panda) or look for places near where you live (near washington dc, for example). You can even combine the two and search for llamas near london.

You can also improve our listings by adding trips to places where you have seen wildlife and telling us which animals you saw.

What kind of places should I add to the site?

We're interested in places where wildlife can be seen reliably. A badger spotted in your back garden or an eagle hovering over the M4 aren't of interest because other people can't go and see them later. Our emphasis is on nature reserves, zoos, parks and other organised wildlife places.

How do I add photos of animals?

It currently takes several steps to add a photograph of an animal:

  1. Upload your photos from the trip to Flickr. If you put them in a set it will be easier to find them later on.
  2. Add a trip to the place where the photograph was taken.
  3. Import your photos of the trip from Flickr in to WildlifeNearYou.
  4. Assign your photos to the trip.
  5. Go to each photo page and add the species visible in the picture.
